  • Gemeinsame Körperschaftsdatei (Corporate Body Authority File) (GKD)
    The Gemeinsame Körperschaftsdatei (Corporate Body Authority File, GKD) is the relevant norm data file for German and foreign corporate body names in the German speaking area. During the 1970s it was developed from the corporate body citations of the periodicals database known as the German Union Catalogue of Serials (ZDB) of the Deutsche Bibliothek Frankfurt am Main and the Bavarian State Library Munich. The file is now maintained and edited by the Bavarian State Library, the Berlin State Library, the German National Library and also the Österreichische Nationalbibliothek, and updated on an ongoing basis to include corporation names from magazine and monograph listings by German and Austrian library networks.

  • GeoNames (GeoNames)
    The GeoNames geographical database is available for download free of charge under a creative commons attribution license. It contains over eight million geographical names and consists of 7 million unique features whereof 2.6 million populated places and 2.8 million alternate names. All features are categorized into one out of nine feature classes and further subcategorized into one out of 645 feature codes. The data is accessible free of charge through a number of webservices and a daily database export. GeoNames is already serving up to over 11 million web service requests per day.

  • Iconclass (Iconclass)
    Iconclass is a subject-specific classification system. It is a hierarchically ordered collection of definitions of objects, people, events and abstract ideas that serve as the subject of an image. Art historians, researchers and curators use it to describe, classify and examine the subject of images represented in various media such as paintings, drawings and photographs.

    Authority Records of the Library of Congress derived from the Library of Congress Online Catalog. Searchable and downloadable in MARC format. Includes Subject Headings, Title Headings and Name Headings.

  • Personennamendatei (Name Authority File) (PND)
    In the Personennamendatei (Name Authority File, PND) all names of persons important for descriptive and subject cataloguing as well as for national cataloguing projects are brought together. Most of all it represents a service to avoid multiple work in building personal names headings as well as in the unification of different forms of headings. Moreover, the PND is the reference file for international co-operation in the area of creating personal names headings.

  • RBMS/BSC Latin Place Names (Latin Place Names)
    Latin Place Names found in the imprints of books printed before 1801 and their vernacular equivalents in AACR2 (Anglo-American Cataloguing Rules) form. This database was compiled from the imprint information in cataloging records of several Anglo-American research libraries.

    RKDartists& is a database with details about Dutch and foreign artists (in the broadest sense of the word) from around 1200 to the present. The database contains information about artists and other people who play(ed) a role in the world of art, such as art dealers, art collectors and art historians.

  • Schlagwortnormdatei (Subject Headings Authority File) (SWD)
    The Subject Headings Authority File provides a normed, terminologically controlled vocabulary. The sources employed for it are listed in the "Liste der fachlichen Nachschlagewerke" (List of information resources available for the Authority Files). It contains listing and reference protocols for subject headings determined in accordance with the "Rules for the Subject Catalogue" and "Rules for Application of the RSWK and SWD". The subject headings cover all fields of knowledge and are classified by ISO country code, ISO language code and SWD Subject Groups.

  • Thesaurus for Graphic Material I: Subject Terms (TGM I)
    The Thesaurus for Graphic Materials is a tool for indexing visual materials by subject and genre/format. The thesaurus includes more than 7,000 subject terms to index topic shown or reflected in pictures, and 650 genre/format terms to index types of photographs, prints, design drawings, ephemera and other categories. New terms are added regularly.
